So for those who don't already know.... Faceit launched 44 Australian CS:GO servers yesterday. You may have heard of faceit from their twitch channel and well known CS:GO shout casters Anders and Semmler.

so, what is faceit?

Faceit is a 3rd party 5v5 match making service much like competitive in CS:GO, however with the one main difference of using 128tick servers rather than valves official 64 tick servers. You can solo queue, buddy up with 2-4 people... or make a team of 5 and play with them.

Faceit also run competitive ladders (like cybergamer) and tournaments all of which you can win points which you can spend on their own online store on items like CS:GO weapon skins, computer hardware, even a fucking car! No joke (as I thought Effort was last night) you can purchase a fiat 500 if you work up the points!

I joined up last night and had a few games, had people across all skill ranges. Some silvers, some novas - all the way up to supreme master first class. Don't think this is only for veterans of the game. Faceit has its own ranking system which matches you to people of similar rank. Now, in its early stages you will have some games where you will be the benefit and on the receiving end of a a stacked side... this is because everyone has to start out on the same rank in the beginning. It will even itself out over time when everyone has had a chance to play enough games to work out their true ELO rank.

If anyone is thinking about signing up, it would be awesome if you were to do so via the following link, as it gives me some extra points! :D

So far so good, not sure how it compares to unity, but early days mean a comparison isn't really fair.

Quite a wide variation of players indeed. Ended up in a game with 2 globals, A low nova. And some MG's. But eventually this will balance out, and provided enough people are playing, it should be a good system, and more ladders are nice for sure.
